Writers' Workshop

You may scratch your head at first when you see your child's writing in kindergarten. A large part of their writing begins by adding more and more detail to their drawings. It also includes labeling items - often with only the beginning letter. Over time, they will add in ending consonants, and some vowel sounds. We emphasize "kid writing" which includes inventive, phonetic spelling, and not conventional writing. Additionally, we will teach trick words and encourage students to spell those words correctly with the support of a word wall. Check out the trick words we know so far on our virtual word wall.
