For the past few years, Exeter High School has made Thanksgiving Baskets for the “Martha LaPerle Outreach Program”. Our student senate helps organize and collect the baskets for this cause. These baskets contain everything that a family may need for a Thanksgiving meal and is distributed to those families in our school’s district that experience hardship. In addition, these baskets also contain gift cards to supermarkets for the family to buy anything else that they may need and that is missing from the basket. The members of our senate reach out to clubs at the school and to the specific teaching departments asking if they would like to contribute with filling a basket or make a donation. In addition, this year, we filled two baskets in our senate. This year, we contributed with more than 17 baskets in the High School alone and on the day of the event, we helped the school nurses distribute 150 baskets in our community.
