The Lume
We went to the Lume in just a couple of hours after we landed in Australia. I do not think many of us had the right amount of energy from flying an almost eight hours trip with only two hours of sleep to properly enjoy the Lume. Nonetheless the Lume had beautiful drawings/paintings and it was a calming place to be in. I enjoyed it thoroughly despite shortage of energy. Later that day we went out to explore Melbourne a little bit, which was enjoyable, especially because the weather was nice, and ate dinner.
Day two was our graffiti walk and workshop. Our tour guide for the graffiti walk was really pleasant and funny, he told us about many artists he met, and the experiences he had, and shared countless stories about himself as well as others. When he shared stories/experiences he has, it really showed me what the graffiti community was like in Melbourne. After our tour, we went to a graffiti workshop where we did stencil spray paint.
After our spray paint, we took a tram to St. Kilda Beach where a festival was taking place. I went on a total of 2 rides which had cost me $32.

Kayaking | Smartphone workshop
We went Kayaking in the morning, the weather was very pleasant, though it did get quite hot during the later half of kayaking. While kayaking we got to see swans and the beautiful skylines of Melbourne.
Later in the day, we did a smartphone workshop, where they taught us different ways to make our photos better and taught us how to use the app snapseed.
Alexander Mcqueen Exhibit |The Art Centre Melbourne Backstage Guided Tour | Puppetry Workshop
We went to an Alexander Mcqueen exhibit where I many of his designs. His desgins were gorgeous and I loved reading the inspiration behind the pieces, I bought a mini poster (bottom left). We later got a backstage tour of the Art Centre and the guide explained to us what happens between shows and production. After the tour we went to a puppetry workshop which was really fun. We got to make our own puppet and our own play during the workshop, which was really enjoyable. Our play, which was quickly improvise, was about a dancer, who was depressed. The dancer was dancing gracefully before viscouly getting attacked by bees. The dancers gets down and starts crawling to safety, before doing an elegant dive into the audience, which acts as the water, to get away from the bees. In this piece I was controlling the left arm and waist.
We were at the sanctuary for the entire day and we got to see a lot of animals: Emu, kangaroos, koalas, parrots, reptiles, etc. After an hour of looking, a bird event was starting and in it, we got to see various types of birds. My favourite bird was the Wedge-tailed Eagle. I learned that its wingspan is about 2 meters wide. For lunch, we had a very Australian meal since we were outside the city and while coming back we stopped at a chocolate factory.

Victorias Market| National Gallery Tour | The First Australians Workshop |Mary Poppins
On our sixth day we first went to Victorias Market. In the market I bought three cute cat sculptures along with a bracelet. After the market we headed to the National Gallery and got to learn and see many objects and paintings. My favourite thing they showed us was a block a tea leaves which closely resembled dirt.
Later in the evening we went to watch the musical Mary Poppins. I loved Mary Poppins, the colors, the music, the characters, the production, all of it was executed and done so nicely, I never expected to have liked it so much.
NIDA Costume Design | Blindside Exhibition | Cinema in Botanical Gardens
On our last day we spent first going to NIDA where we learned about costume design and got to draw a costume. We then visited another gallery except this one was slightly different than a typical gallery. The location and vibes were all different than previous galleries we have been to. This gallery also had no artist statement besides pieces, this was later explained to us that they wanted the art to be interpreted by the audience by themselves instead of someone telling them what the art means. In the gallery, our guide talked about how they paid the artists instead of artists paying them to showcase artwork. She also helped us answer questions we had about art portfolios.
In the evening we went to Botanical Gardens to watch the movie, Avatar 2. I really enjoyed watching a movie outside in the fresh and cool air.
