DAY 1: The flight + The Lume
The moment we landed in Melbourne, we went to the hotel, checked in our bags and left to go to The Lume. We were all really tired but we still found The Lume really entertaining and pretty. I loved how the art was everywhere and not fixed in certain places like normal art muesuems. It wasn't unorganized but it was digitally projected.
I think that The Lume made us even more tired because of how quiet everyone was, it was just the calming classical music that was playing in the background, and the different art projections. There was a sort of circular room that me and my friends just chilled in for the most of the time; I think some of us fell asleep.
DAY 2: Graffiti workshop + St. Kilda Beach
After the tour, we went to a really nice cafe which had such good french toast and iced chocolate.
On day two, we went on a graffiti tour and had a graffiti workshop. At first, our tour guide was really quiet but after awhile, he became more comfortable and he was actually very funny. He swore a lot but it was ok and it was really funny.
Then we went to the workshop where we made our own graffiti stencils. I thought that the workshop was really fun and I thought that my stencil was good especially since it's the first time making a graffiti stencil.
After that, we went to St. Kilda Beach. There was a fair at the beach and me and my friends went on some intense rides, it was really fun and I think I lost my voice.
Day 3: Kayaking + Photography workshop
We kayaked in the Yarra River and got to look at the beautiful skylines.
On day 3, the first thing we did in the morning was go kayaking. The weather was amazing. It was cold but it wasn't too hot either.
Later in the day, we went to a smartphone workshop. We learnt how to use the different camera settings on our phones. I thought that it was really intresting and fun.
I got to take pictures of small people and I didn't realise how good my phone camera was until this workshop.
Day 4: Alexander Mcqueen exhibition + puppetry workshop
First, we went to a theatre where Phantom of the Opera was held but I forgot the name of the theatre. We got a tour of the different theater rooms and some of the backstage rooms where the actors/performers would practice. It felt like a fever dream seeing a big theater empty. After that, we went for a puppetry workshop which was really fun. We got to experience how to control a puppet and we made our own puppets and performed in groups. Later in the day after lunch, we went to the Alexander Mcqueen exhibition. I'm pretty sure that this was a last minute thing but it was a nice surprise. I really liked how each clothing design corresponded with the room it was in. I wish I got something from the gift shop for either me or my parents.
Day 5: Healesville Sanctuary
We spent the whole day at the Healesville Sanctuary. We got to see many animals like Emus, a Dingo, some reptiles, Kangaroos and some birds. Shortly after, we went to watch a bird show and it was really cool. The birds that they showcased were all really unique and some of them were really big. It was a hot day that day though and there were a lot of insects, it was still an enjoyable day though. After the sanctuary, we stopped in the middle of nowhere; we stopped probably because there was a nice view. Then we continued our journey and then stopped again at a chocolate shop. I didn't buy anything because I thought that everything would just melt since it was so hot.
Day 6: Mary Poppins
In the morning, we went to the Victorias Market. It was more empty than usual I felt like but it was still enjoyable. I bought a cute sonic hat and my friends got cute hats of their own. I also got some concert posters for my parents and movie posters for myself. I also bought some cute bracelets with me and my friend's initials on them. Me and my friends went back to the cute little cafe that had the delicious french toast. Then we went back to the museum for the actual art. There isn't much to talk about the museum but i did find it interesting because we learnt about the background of each painting. We got a little tired after the museum tour though.
I think that the highlight of day 6 was definitely watching Mary Poppins. It just brought back so many childhood memories, especially when the cast started singing "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" and "Just a spoonful of sugar."
It was easily the best day of interim and the best night of my life so far. If I could relive that moment again, I would 100%.
Day 7: NIDA (Improv) + Moonlight cinema at Botanical Gardens
For our last day, we were split into groups on which activity we chose to do. I chose to do improv. It was really awkward at first because one, it was morning and we were still tired and two, we weren't very close or close at all to the people around us. But after some time, we got more comfortable with the teacher and each other (the students). It ended up being really really fun.
In the evening, we went to the Botanical Gardens to the Moonlight Cinema where we watched, Avatar the way of water. I personally, enjoyed it a lot. At first I didn't know if I would like the environment because it was outside and I assumed that there would be many bugs and it would be hot but it turned out there were hardly any bugs besides dragon flies but they're harmless and it wasn't hot at all, it was actually quite cooling.
Later in the night during the movie, I noticed that there were fireflies flying around. It was my first time seeing fireflies in person so I was really in shock. The sky was really pretty; the stars and moon were out and usually in Singapore, you can't really see them anymore so it was really nice to see stars especially after such an amazing movie.
