The flight there was longer than I expected but there was a wide range of movies and they gave us blankets and snacks!!
Lume was so pretty!! Though I was quite tired from the flight, the Lume was definitely worth the walk. Everything was amazing and the art history it told was so cool and interesting too. Overall it was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. All the artwork and displays were beautifully serene and peaceful, I took a lot of pretty pictures there :) The food in Melbourne was more expensive than I remembered, but I'll pull through.
Touring the city was wonderful! It was really cool to learn the process of what makes street art and the difference between that and a commissioned mural painting. We got to see all types of artists and techniques that work or don't for graffiti and all the history in the walls of peeling paint !
The festival was so HOT! I was practically melting in the sun, but my friends and I got to go on the ferris wheel and that was deifnetly a fun highlight!! We too so many photos and the view was just gorgeous, if only we got to see those penguins </3
We went kayaking on the yarra river! It was really nice to hear about the indiginous history along the way and the history of how Melbourne came to be. It was nice to here them respect and recognize that this is stolen land and rightfully belongs to the indiginous, though I wonder what actual measures they have done for them.
We did a small tour around RMIT University which was very pretty, and learned about its not so pretty history as a prison! Kinda funny how it's a school now, another prison of sorts some might say... ;D After our small tour we got to do a smartphone workshop which was a lot of fun to run around and learn new techniques and editing tricks on this app snapseed! We learnt about texture, leading lines, and basic portait photography on the phone! There were also two mini lessons on movement (bursts) and macro photography!
The morning was so cold!!! I should've layered up more but at least the theater tour was mostly indoors hahah. The theater was amazing and so cool I loved all the themes and color coordination with the metals, it was my first time in a theater so large and it was really cool to explore the different types of seating and innovations that have been made to really make an immersive experience, I really wish we got to watch something there!
We went to the NGV to check out Alexander McQueen's fashion exhibition. It was a really cool walk through and the displays were very pretty with some cool interactive bits. I'm not that interested in fashion though I still thought it was a cool exhibit.
Nikita turned 17 on the trip! And it was Sara's birthday too :D So during downtime Anna and I ran around and got them chocolate muffins and candles for a birthday suprise! We even got Seohyun and Hyunseo to help make cute paper crowns as a little birthday crown :)
SAW KANGEROOS!!! They were kind of uglier than I remembered haha, but fun animals nonetheless, the wallabies however were SO CUTE!! I wanted to pet them so bad (ahh) The bird show was wonderful but the sun was absolutely unbearable, I had to run to the back and hide in the shade. I was also able to capture a koala awake!! Which I wasn't able to on my first walk through so that was really cool, my favorite has to be the platypus!! SO CUTE and very mysterious and hard to spot with the dark room lighting, overall fun times.
We also stopped by a chocolate factory after and it was pretty neat! I really wanted to try the ice cream but it was 5-7 dollars a scoop!!! In this economy?! The field outside was pretty and warm at least :')
NGV was so pretty! And our tour guide was very fun and led us through many interesting and cool exhibits, I wish we had more time to freely wander though! Everything was so pretty I wanted to stay and admire all the artworks forever :')
We had dinner at this pub and it was fun! Then we walked to Mary Poppins and it was SO GOOD!!! The experience was truly so worth the wait and I wish I could go through it again, the production quality, sets, and costuming was just nothing short of AMAZING, at one point someone even went upside down!!!!!!!!! Though I couldn't see it clearly it was still quite the feat to witness as he was singing while he went (which is crazy!!)
We sang a spoon full of sugar the whole way back and it was so much fun! It was our first time really seeing the nightlife in Melbourne and it was so pretty!!!!
We went to a couple of small art exhibits and workshops and they were so cute and cool! Then e got to go to the supermarket and buy food for the cinema before going back to pack! I got a buncha chips and candy but ended up not eating everything haha
On the way to the botanical gardens! The open cinema was so cool but I wasn't the biggest fan about Avatar especially with all of the controversy surrounding it appropriating indigenous culture :/ plus the plot was really flimsy and while everything was really pretty the story itself was weak
very sleepy flight, I stayed awake the whole time and got a lot more snacks this time, (yay!)
