We landed at Melbourne airport first and while we waited for everyone to collect their bags we grabbed some food from the coffee shop. Then we went to the hotel and quickly dropped off our luggage and headed to the Lume.Even though everyone was tired from the 7 hour flight the minute wen entered the room I just felt so relaxed and calm as if I was in a different world altogether. After the Lume we went out and got some food . We went out in the city to get some food but we mostly ate ramen that day as we were very tired from the journey.
We started off the second day with a fabulous street tour and I learnt so much about graffiti and street artists. Our tour guide was a very interesting guy and I think that made the tour even better. His point of view and tips and stories that he shared made it even more interesting than what I had imagined it to be and I think that if I had seen the same works of art again without his input I would have learned a lot less from what I did. Then we stopped at the victoria market for lunch and over there I had an amazing potato swirl and a snow cone which I loved.
After lunch we went to our graffitti workshop where I learnt alot about stenciling and I created a stencil of a bus which I loved doing. The process of cutting the stencil was very tough but I really enjoyed it and learnt alot from it.
Lastly, we went to St. Kilda beach which was an adventure as it was totally unplanned.I had a sandwichthere for my dinner and I chilled at the beach as it was really calming and fun.
On day 3 we had to get up earlier than usual but it was so worth it. We went kayaking and I thought it was going to be hard but I had so much fun with my partner Solee even though we kept banging into the wall. The weather couldn't have been more perfect that day as it wasn't too hot nor too cold.
Right after that we has lunch at Melbourne central and it was amazing as we were new to the mal and got time to explore it.
The last thing that we did that day was the photography workshop which was really fun. I learnt how to take photos from so many different angles and we learnt how to use snapseed.I really enjoyed using that software to edit the Pictures and I see myself using it in the future too.
We went on a theater tour to kick off our fourth day in Melbourne. Others may have found this to be a tad boring, but I found it to be incredibly fascinating how carefully planned and complicated each area in the theater was—including the color of the walls, the placement of the chairs, etc.—as well as the basic principles of how the acoustics functioned. I thought it was incredibly creative, effective, and fascinating because I wouldn't have heard about it if I hadn't attended the tour. I had never had anything like it before.
We went to the Alexander Mcqueen exhibit and I fell in love with it. It was amazing to see and I loved reading the processes behind his work and my family lo es his stuff so I got back a coffee table book from there for my uncle who loves the designer.
We ended our day by doing a puppetry workshop which was really different to what I thought it would be. It was really engaging and I didnt think about puppetry in this way and I had alot of fun doing the performance with my group in front of everyone.
Out of all the days during our trip in Melbourne, Day 5 was one of my favorites. I liked that instead of visiting a commercial zoo, we visited a real sanctuary on the outskirts of Melbourne. Because we were seeing them rather than taking them to an incredibly metropolitan population for entertainment, it seemed like a better setting for the animals, which was really pleasant. I absolutely loved the trip there and back; the scenery was gorgeous and reminded me of something you may see in Austria. We had a terrific time, and it was quite soothing. On the way back we also stopped at a chocolate factory and the view over there was unreal.
This day we went back to victoria market to do a little bit of shopping and it was so much fun as I bought my sister and I little name tags from there. We returned to the national gallery after wandering the market to see all the other artworks, including the crown jewels, medieval items, and a significant amount of Australian art. After that, we hastily retreated to the hotel to don our rather dressy outfits for Mary Poppins. I was astounded by the actors' talent when viewing the Mary Poppins musical, but I was more taken aback by the set. One of the most incredible sets I have ever seen, it got me thinking about how much labor and effort went into making this performance. Day six was, all in all, enlightening and fascinating.
On our seventh day we started the day with a costume design workshop which I found really interesting and I loved looking at the costume from different plays and experimenting with some paper on my own.We visited the blindside exhibition, which had a lot of contemporary painters and strange abstract art, after lunch. We went to the botanical gardens to watch a movie outside later that night. It was a really unique experience, and I loved the movie that we saw with the snacks we bought earlier that day. The final day of the vacation made day seven in general a bittersweet day. I'll always remember this vacation and think back on it whenever I'm reminded of my high school years. In Melbourne, I gained knowledge, laughed a lot, and had a lot of experiences. As I write this, I wish I were still there.
