The $5 exam rate was from an old state grant that is no longer active. We will be updating our prices to align with neighboring districts and account for the increased fees from AP.
Planning to NOT raise the exam fee yet significantly increase the cancel/no-show fee after the November/March 1 deadline.
More details regarding fees will be available in August 2025 when registration begins.
Student exam order confirmation required by March 1.
Why?
The AP order system does not link to the payment system. It is very easy for adult humans reviewing thousands of orders to make errors. Many students never reviewed their registration or read emails, causing panic and delay on exam day.
Scholars will be required to login to AP Classroom and/or Bluebook to ensure their exam order is accurate by March 1.
After spring break, there is no guarantee that we can add new exam orders. If space is available, any new exam order will have significant late fees and will ONLY be allowed to test on the late exam date.
Increase to "exam-only" fees.
Why?
The request for "exam-only" orders have increased substantially. "Exam-only" means students are not currently taking the course but wish to take the exam. This requires additional proctors that we are having difficulty providing.
Planning to add a percentage of proctor cost to each exam-only order.
More details regarding fees will be available in August 2025 when registration begins.
AP exam fees will be "attached" in student's SchoolCashOnline account.
Why?
Some families reported trouble finding the link to pay. Students will see an "attached" fee in SchoolCashOnline.
This is optional and not required for graduation, but hopefully will make it easier for timely payments.
Students and families will see the attachments by first week of each semester.
Late exam dates hosted at district site - not schools.
Why?
Now that SDUSD ends in May, the late exam dates are causing major challenges for school sites trying to closeout the year.
District sites, such as Ballard Center, are being explored as options to host all late exams so site staff can focus on their essential duties.
More details will be available by October.
Adding on-demand webinars to AP Resource Page.
Why?
This stuff is confusing! The AP program requires students make accounts and register themselves; yet, to complete the exam order, they must also pay on another site!
Short and specific on-demand videos will be added to the AP Resources page in an attempt to make all things AP more clear.
More details will be available by August.
Advanced Placement courses are weighted (GPA boost), college-level courses taught by high school educators. Students can pay for the optional May exams and if they score well, they may earn college credit.
