Welcome our New Advanced Treble and Madrigals Class of 2025-2026
Choir Festivals are a celebration of choral music for all performing groups coming from all across the district, area, state, country and even world. It tends to be the big challenge of the year for every ensemble ready to be adjudicated and scored by a handful of professional musicians in the art of choir or vocal performance. Choirs can perform just a set of pieces at these festivals and then be judged or they can also be graded off of their sight reading abilities as well. Locations of these festivals can be local at schools sites or can be exciting and be at theme parks such as Knott's Berry Farm, Six Flags, Disneyland and more!
If your student is in an ensemble that has been given the opportunity to be adjudicated at a festival then they can receive the following...
A pin from the location (Music in the Parks)
An official rating that they can take back to school which validates the quality of the ensemble. (Good, Excellent, Superior)
Trophies or plaques that the school can take home.
A chance to spend a day at a theme park
A sense of pride and comradery with a group dedicated to one goal
An opportunity to watch other schools performing
And more!
At festivals, ensembles can be given a rank or rating for the quality of their performance. These ratings a decided based off of a pool of points given by three judges that are all professionals in the field. While they are judged, the professionals will add comments either written, recorded in audio or both that the teacher can take back and share with the group. The lowest rating is Good while the highest is Superior. Of course, if there are numerous Superior rated groups, then a Unanimous Superior rank is then given at the festival. This can also be labeld as Superior Overall.
It's fun and the students love the challenge! In addition, doing festivals are a privilege and can be easily taken away if the ensemble doesn't deserve it. The students must choose to uphold high standards and good conduct throughout the year to be given the opportunity to perform in these settings. By establishing these requirements our students work together to ensure that they are able to go and it always produces students of good character and quality.
Of course but they will be independent from the group and tickets will only be purchased for approved chaperones or if it fits within our budget to gift extra tickets.
