Choir Camp
What is Choir Camp?
Choir Camp is a two week long camp and is an essential part of team building for our advance ensemble Madrigals. Due to their active schedule throughout the year it is important that this group refreshes their music knowledge early, get a head start on Fall music and most importantly build trust and faith in each other. As the first major challenge for our new leadership team as well, this camp is an effective moment for our new leaders to learn what their strengths and weaknesses are as a leader and how well they interact with others in the ensemble.
How Do I Prepare for Choir Camp?
It is important to check your emails (both student and parent) over the course of the Summer to get updates and access codes for the upcoming year's Google Classroom and Remind. Due to it being over the summer, we ask everyone to check your emails and make sure you read through the directions.
In general though, you need to be ready for the following...
Major Scale sung in Solfege but ascending and descending, completely memorized and accurate.
Open vowels: [a]Aw, [E]eh, [I]ih, [i]eeih, [o]oh, [u]oo
Rehearsal Positions (1, 2, 3)
Crisp Consonants: "Diction is sung with the tip of the tongue and the teeth."
Physical stretches to ensure flexibility and openness.
Learning the required notes/songs for the camp
Do I Need to Bring Anything?
All students should bring at least the following to Camp...
Pencil with an eraser
Water Bottle
1 inch black binder with their name inside
Moveable attire and closed toed shoes
Mask (if recently recovering or feeling a bit under the weather)
