Music 

Our Lessons

In AEP, students develop musical knowledge, skills, and understandings through a wide array of experiences in general music instruction. Based in the standards, these lessons are exploratory and are not driven by a performance/product.

• Students in UTK, Kindergarten, First Grade, and Mod/Severe classes explore musical contrasts and characteristics through singing, chanting, dancing/moving, and improvising. 

• Students in Second and Third Grade are introduced to the elements of music and basic music notation, and create musical sounds using their voices and bodies. 

• Students in Fourth and Fifth Grade focus on rhythm, notation, and body percussion. These lessons help prepare for or reinforce their weekly musical instruction provided by VAPA Music Teachers. 

Each lesson is designed to stand alone but build on the topics taught previously. All materials, including Google Slides, are embedded and included.
