Demonstrate rhythm-reading using the play-along video from class - or have the students research and select a YouTube video play-along that uses the rhythms they learned.
Create rhythm patterns by identifying a one-syllable word, a two-syllable word, and a four-syllable word, then linking four of them into a sequence. Now speak and clap it! Example: apple, pear, apple, watermelon. Example: pepperoni, pepperoni, pizza, sauce.

Have students develop a list of characters. From this list have them develop a specific "voice" for a character. Focus on volume, speed/pace, and anything else that helps the audience "hear" the character. Next students develop a walking/movement style for the character. Consider speed/pace, gestures, body shape. Pair student created characters together and have students improvise scenes.
Select a book for students to bring to life. Each student selects a character from the book and applies what they have learned about using their voice and body to act out the character. Have students develop dialogue inspired by the book and perform short scenes.
