Topic: Classical Indian Dance

Objective: I can demonstrate and describe dance from India.

Currently, media arts lessons are only offered in grades 3-5.

Topic: Voice Use
Objective: I can use my voice to be expressive.
Vocabulary: speak, sing, beat box
Extensions: 

• Sing a song with the class. Practice expressing the meaning of the song using volume, energy, and facial expression. We had fun with the movement song "Arriba, abajo."

• When listening to music, guess the mood of the piece. Ask students how they know. (Consider the volume, speed, lyrics, etc.) You can do this with any music you play in your classroom - popular music, kids' music, instrumental music, etc.

• Practice beat boxing with the phrase "boots and cats."

Topic: The Actors Tools
Objective: I can create using my actor's tools.
Vocabulary: ensemble, actor, actor's tools, actor neutral, audience, volume, imagination, mimic
Extensions:

• Name the actor's tools (voice, body and imagination). Have students demonstrate their actor warm up.

• Practice using voice and body in different ways to communicate different ideas. Pose scenarios when each use of the body and voice is appropriate or tells a story.
