Fantasy Tableau Challenge:
Present the class with a fantastical scenario, such as "You have just discovered a magical portal in the schoolyard that leads to a mysterious land."
Divide the class into small groups and challenge each group to create a tableau depicting a specific moment or aspect of the scenario.
Encourage students to use their imagination to come up with creative and fantastical ideas for their tableaux.
After creating their tableaux, have each group add dialogue to their scene, where each student expresses what their character is experiencing or thinking in the magical land.
Allow time for groups to rehearse their tableaux with dialogue.
Once prepared, have each group perform their tableau with dialogue for the class.
After all performances, facilitate a discussion about the different ways students interpreted the scenario and how they used tableaux and dialogue to bring it to life. Encourage reflection on the creative process and the effectiveness of their communication.
