The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) is a cornerstone of Sampoerna University’s commitment to raising the quality of teaching and supporting the professional growth of its faculty. As SU continues to pursue its mission of preparing graduates who are globally competitive and grounded in strong values, CETL’s work has become increasingly central to institutional success. Over the next five years, SU will place stronger emphasis on digital transformation, innovative and inclusive pedagogy, and the implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE). The CETL Strategic Plan 2025–2030 is designed to directly support these institutional priorities in practical and measurable ways.
This plan sets out CETL’s vision, mission, and strategic goals, aligning all major initiatives with the university’s broader directions under Pillar 2: Achieve Excellence by Design and Pillar 3: Create a Sustainable University. It includes clear strategies, annual targets, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to help faculty develop their teaching competence, adopt effective and inclusive pedagogies, and integrate technology to improve student learning. By working collaboratively with faculty, Heads of Study Programs (HoDs), the Quality Assurance & Institutional Research and Planning (QAIRP) unit, and SU leadership, CETL will ensure that its programs remain relevant, impactful, and sustainable. This strategic plan not only reflects the challenges and opportunities facing higher education but also provides a roadmap for CETL to contribute meaningfully to the achievement of Sampoerna University’s 2025–2030 vision.
Vision:
To be the leading catalyst of innovative, inclusive, and evidence-based teaching practices at Sampoerna University.
Mission:
Enhance faculty teaching competence through structured professional development and recognition.
Institutionalize OBE, inclusive, and active learning pedagogies across all programs.
Scale sustainable hybrid and online teaching practices supported by Canvas and digital infrastructure.
Promote a culture of teaching excellence through recognition, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
The CETL has developed four strategic goals for the period 2025–2030, each designed to directly support the priorities set forth in the Sampoerna University Strategic Plan 2025–2030:
Goal 1: Strengthen Faculty Teaching Capacity
Goal 2: Institutionalize Outcome-Based, Active, and Inclusive Pedagogy
Goal 3: Scale High-Quality Hybrid and Online Teaching
Goal 4: Promote a Culture of Teaching Excellence and Recognition
These goals focus on strengthening faculty capacity, embedding outcome-based and inclusive pedagogy, scaling digital and hybrid learning, and building a culture of recognition for teaching excellence. Each goal is supported by measurable objectives, annual targets, and actionable steps that ensure progress toward SU’s institutional priorities.
CETL OBJECTIVES
The four CETL goals and their associated strategic objectives provide a coherent roadmap for CETL to contribute to SU’s vision of academic excellence, inclusivity, digital readiness, and sustainability. They ensure that every CETL initiative is tied not only to immediate faculty development needs but also to the university’s long-term strategic outcomes.
