To Test or Go Test Optional?
Most schools are test optional.
Most schools will remain test optional.
Many selective schools are going back to testing required.
Some of those selective schools will let you choose your test: SAT, ACT, AP, IB, etc....
Many schools still use test results to determine merit based scholarship money.
Take a test before you decide to go test optional.
If you pass even portions of the test, you may earn new A's for your transcript.
You can sign-up twice a year.
The test results are between you and your testing coordinator.
College and Career has seen students receive Oregon Promise due to test results.
College and Career has seen students receive Chemeketa Scholars with the resuls.
See Mr. Miramontes-Zaragoza in Room 294 with your questions.

I do not recommend students send their test scores from the test sitting. Students will send 1 score to 1 school when they have committed to a school, if and only if, the student said they would submit a score.

Are you a STEM major? Consider testing! Many programs such as nursing, business, engineering, etc... would like a test score or a test score will be one more factor in your favor for admittance especially if you are seeking a direct entry/direct admit program.
Do you want to hunt big dollar scholarships based on merit or grades? Consider testing. Here's an example of U of Arizona merit*.
Please note the University of Arizona uses your GPA from your CORE classes only. This is common. The grades on the elective classes you take may not count for your merit scholarship required GPA. Colleges recalculate your GPA to their metrics all the time.
SUBMIT YOUR TEST SCORE IF
Your test score meets or exceeds the average incoming class test scores for X specific college/university.
How do I find this information? Google, "Class of 2024 Admissions Statistics". Here's an example at U of Notre Dame.
The exception to #1: You are coming from an under-resourced school and your test score is one of the best in the building for current seniors in your class. How do I find this out? See below.
Understand that testing scores may be different for STEM submitting students. They can be higher or need to be higher.
Dana Morris in Room 294 is your testing coordinator. She can be emailed through your Gmail account. She can help you assess where your test score falls and/or College and Career can also help you.
