About Your Teachers

Hi! My name is Mrs. Collins!

I grew up in Chino Hills, California, and currently reside in Irvine. I knew that God had called me to be a teacher from a very young age, and it is such a blessing for me to get to live out my ministry here at Salem Lutheran School! I have my Bachelor's Degree from Cal Poly Pomona and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Hope International University.

I married Jamey Collins on October 19, 2019. We love going on adventures to Disneyland, the beach, and Mammoth whenever we get the chance!

The 2020-2021 school year will be my 8th year of teaching, and my very first at Salem! I am so grateful to be part of this wonderful team of believers, and I can't wait to spend this year watching your children grow!

Hello! My name is Mrs. Surridge.

I grew up in Kalispell, Montana where I first fell in love with the Lutheran School experience and realized that God was leading me to be a teacher. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Concordia College in Portland, Oregon and my master’s degree from Concordia University in Irvine, California. In December 2006 I earned my first National Board Certification, described as the highest symbol of professional teaching excellence, and renewed the certification in November 2015.

I married Tim Surridge in 1991 and we have raised four gifted and talented golden retrievers and one adorable yellow lab. I still return to Montana every summer to visit my mom in the home where I grew up. I love to read and I make greeting cards in my “free time”.

The 2020-2021 school year will be my 39th year of teaching and my 32nd year at Salem. I love Salem because I get to hang out with the coolest kids in the whole world and we get to talk about Jesus all day long.
