Entry: When students arrive at school, they can come in any door but it is preferred to come in through the end doors by our room or hallway. Staff will begin letting students into the building 8:45am. Students are required at this time to enter the building with a mask and it is recommended that they sanitize upon entry into the classroom.
Dismissal: Students will be dismissed at 3:35 Monday-Thursday and at 1:00pm on Fridays for early dismissal. Due to congestion in the halls and trying to reduce significant contact, we may stagger trips to lockers and dismissal at the end of each day.
Bird Garden Door: Ms. Champagne
In our classroom, we will be sitting at round tables, which does not allow for totes. Students will be allowed to have their backpacks with supplies in the classroom but we will ask that large and bulky items will be kept in student lockers. To minimize trips to the lockers and disruptions, we want to keep the majority of student items in the classroom and there will be spare supplies available in the classroom.
This year, the supplies students will need are:
4 Duotangs (or a 2" binder with dividers)
Red- Math
Yellow- Language Arts
Green- Science
Blue-Social Studies
Orange (student choice)- Health
Pencil Case with- pencils, erasers, sharpener, scissors, glue, highlighter, sharpie, white board markers.
Lined paper (1 pack)
Pencil Crayons/ Markers
250 page coiled notebook
Expo markers
In order to reduce loss of supplies in the "locker vortex", we are asking that spare supplies be stored at home. Throughout the year, please keep an eye out for emails and/or agenda notes requesting more, or different supplies. However, it is the student’s responsibility to keep their pencil case stocked with appropriate daily supplies throughout the year (eg. pencils, erasers etc.). Student sharing of supplies is not permitted.
At the end of each day, students will need to fit all of their supplies that stay at school in their lockers, as items will not be able to be stored on desktops or floors due to daily sensitization protocols/fogging.
Cell phones must be stored in student backpacks on silent during class time. However, there will be an opportunity to use cell phones for educational purposes at the teacher’s discretion. This year, we will aim to teach students responsible device usage.
Students may use their cell phones during lunch and recess. There is no longer a student phone available in the office, therefore all non- emergent student phone calls during class time will be made using the classroom phone. We will be allowing students to listen to appropriate music when directed by the teacher with headphones. However, students are not able to stream music, it must be a playlist to avoid overwhelming the network and students constantly searching on their phone.
If your child has their own computer, and you are comfortable, we are encouraging them to bring them to use at school to lower the use of shared technology, however, this is NOT A REQUIREMENT. If you choose to send the device to school, it will be the child’s responsibility to keep track of the device and keep it locked in the classroom or locker when not being used. Any student devices should go home at the end of the day.
Students will eat lunch in their homeroom classroom. The first 15 minutes of lunch will be for eating. As students will not be wearing their masks to eat, they must sit at their assigned spot, face forward and try and keep talking to a minimum. The last 15 minutes of lunch, students will be permitted to socialize; however, they must clean up their lunch, wash/sanitize their desk, and put their mask back on first. The teacher will indicate when the 15 minutes of eating is over.
There will be access to the library to check out books however, it will not be as frequently due to the 72- hour waiting period to safely re-shelve books. We strongly encourage students to bring reading books from home if possible.
During recess, students will be able to go outside to play in their designated area with their cohort. There will be a rotating schedule for different areas outside. Students will be encouraged to maintain distance when playing.

There will be access to change rooms during physical education this year. Students will have an opportunity to change for PE but it is not required. Students still need to wear appropriate footwear, even if they are choosing not to change. Students will have PE classes outside as much as possible so please dress accordingly. It is always recommended at this age that students bring deodorant and/or antiperspirant for after their PE class.
There will be access to water fountains this year but only to fill their water bottles. We are asking that all students bring a water bottle daily, as we cannot provide cups to students.
