VALENTINE'S dAY gIFT iDEAS
Martericca Brown
Whether the gift is store bought or homemade, it doesn't matter as long as it comes from the heart. Shower that special person in your life with one of these easy to make and affordable gift ideas.
Homemade:
Heart bouquet
Materials - Paper, pencil/pen, glue, wire, flower bouquet.
Having more than more paper would be helpful if you want to make more or you want it to be a bit larger.
Trace the hearts out on the paper for a cleaner look, that way the hearts will be perfect. Writing a message is optional, you could do a drawing or just write a tiny message.
After cutting your hearts out, glue the hearts to a piece of bent wire. Tuck the wired hearts into a bouquet of flowers.
Heart Shaped Brownies
Ingredients: unsweetened chocolate chips, chocolate candies (optional), M&Ms chocolate (optional), all purpose flour, granulated white sugar, vanilla extract, a smidge of sea salt, and a heart shaped cookie cutter .
Mix up a brownie batter (store bought or homemade) & fold it together with a gentle hand until it becomes a thick fudgy batter. After this step you could start mixing your chocolate chips and M&M’s in.
Pour the mixture evenly into a lined square baking pan. Lining the pan with parchment paper or foil will help your brownies not stick.
Before baking the brownies, you can sprinkle some M&Ms. The brownies should bake at 350°F for 20-40 mins. The brownies will need to be checked on throughout the whole time in case they cook faster or need more time in the oven.
Cookies
Ingredients: heart shaped cookie cutters, a pan, cookie dough (store bought or homemade), butter/canola oil.
Make the cookie dough. You could buy the pre-bought cookie dough or you could make it from scratch with basic baking ingredients. The easier route clearly would be to buy cookie dough.
Form the dough into a knead, so when using the cutters it will be flat.
Apply butter or canola oil to the pan, let it spread around the pan. Try to space them out on the pan, press them down and use the cookie cutters to make them heart shaped. It's fine for the cookies to touch after baking them, it would just help with the outcome of the shape if they don’t touch while in the oven. Having a ‘long’, spacious pan will help with this.
Put the cookies in the oven and bake on 350°F for around 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Make sure to check on the cookies regularly, as the baking times can vary.
Gift basket
A gift basket for someone has items that they like or have a slight interest in. Before starting to put anything in the baskets, you should get fake grass or fake paper for the bottom so your gifts won't be too low.
Some ideas of things to include are:
Heart chocolates or bouquet
Necklace or bracelets (what ever they wear more)
Socks with their favorite character
Lotion- some popular brands are EOS, CeraVe, and Vaseline.
Candles
Legos - can be bought at Target, Walmart, etc.
Coloring books (if that's something they like)
Small or large stuffed bears- also can bought at any local store
Skincare or makeup if you know what products they like
Don't focus on how much the gift costs or worry about getting the perfect gift because that's not what really matters. Make sure those special people in your life know how much they are loved.
