Question
People eating in cafés need some items to be readily available on the table. Design a product that will hold one salt pot, one pepper pot, 10 sachets of sugar and 5 teaspoons. The product should be easily stacked when not on a table.
(a) List four additional points about the function of such a product that you consider to be important.
Suitable answers (you only need 4) could be:
The condiments (salt & pepper, sugar etc.) should be easily accessible and able to be easily removed from the storage unit
The holder should be portable and easy to move from table to table
The product should hold the salt and pepper pots upright
The product should be hygienic and easy to clean (wipe clean)
The product should be light in weight so it is easy to lift and transport (carry) between tables
The product should be water and moisture resistant
The product should have a food safe (hygienic) finish so as not to promote bacteria
(b) Use sketches and notes to show two ways by which products could be stacked.
(c) Develop and sketch three ideas for the product.

The ideas are presented as below on the A3 paper. Note that there is no colour as there are no marks awarded for the use of colour. This does not mean you cannot add colour or tone!.
