My art piece was made with paint and chalk markers. I chose to use those media because, in a way, they matched my issue and made it look more realistic. The chalk markers also represent that it's temporary, like my issue. You can always try to fix it, but no matter what, it will be different from what it once was.
The issue my art piece is describing is that nobody should be defined based on their gender or race. It is essential because so many people struggle with this issue in many workplaces around the world, and there isn't much that people are doing about it other than saying, "Don't discriminate." The most impactful information I learned in my research was that CEOs of major companies like Ben and Jerry's ice cream, Nike, and SAP Venture Fund, which is a Diverse business, try to take down racism through advertisements and websites. Although they say they "don't tolerate it" because most companies don't want to pass judgment on their policies, some things that are being done to address this issue are companies explaining racism to their CEO. Then they speak about it, saying they are trying to slim the chance with more opportunities and curiosity, and create accountability programs where they develop processes and systems designed to help stop racism. It doesn't just affect women like it addresses the most; many males also face racism due to the "stereotypes" everyone is equal and we are all capable of the same things.
My artwork aims to show that race and gender shouldn't affect workplaces and how people are treated. I hope others will learn to be respectful to people of color and give them the same amount of respect they give others. I've explained what I'm trying to convey about my art piece, and I hope my art piece will get the message I'm trying to give. If multiple people start to give this issue the same attention, it will provide people with more power to try to deduct the situation.
