Shadows and Reflections

This was my second experience with film, contact sheets, and prints, and the process it takes to create and develop them. My artist statement is at the bottom. My contact sheet is below, and underneath it, my final print. Enjoy!

This second experience with traditional photography was really enjoyable. Without the frustration of learning the process, I could do a lot of things better. For this assignment I went outside and wandered around Freeport with the rest of my class taking photos that specifically included shadows and reflections. This means I was on the lookout for windows and other reflective surfaces. It was a bright and sunny day, so there were lots of shadows around. I also took photos of other things I found interesting. I tried to make sure that the contrast between light and dark would tun out well while taking the images. I also took many of the same pictures twice with slight variations, in case one of them turned out well/I liked in better and the other one, not so much. I really love how these photos came out, and these are some of my favorite images I've taken. The majority of them have interesting/well-done composition, unique subjects, and/or are clear and compelling. Personally, I love them. As for the final print and contact sheet, they are not bad, just a little different: the contact sheet was a little darker than I would have liked, and the print, the opposite (it was a little faded). Overall, however, I enjoy the final products. I believe they are good images and I have a better understanding of the traditional photography process considering the previous assignment.
