Photo Montage

Below are my final products and photos that make up the final products of my Photo Montage project. The montages are above the photos that go into them, and the final montages are also significantly larger. Artist statement is at the bottom.

For this project, I was required to take multiple photos (half from myself, half for free on the internet) and put them together in a different and creative way. I had fun playing around in photoshop for this one, and problem-solving was huge. I even explored some more of the photoshop tools that aided me in making these. While it is said that these require a lot of planning, for me, who is a little more inexperienced with photo montages, I decided to just relax and not stress out about it too much. I went through my phone, laptop, and camera to find photos I hadn't used before that could go together in a way they wouldn't be able to do when they're separate. While in photoshop, I played around with the sizes of objects, the opacity of layers, the positions of layers, the width and length of backgrounds/images, the blur tool to give the photo a more blended look, erasing certain parts of photos, and more. Adding or taking away an element of a photo could give it a completely different feel, which I thought was cool. The last and first photos are my favorites simply because of the feel of them, I guess: the color scheme, the pleasing composition, I'm not 100% sure what it is. Maybe the editing blends together more nicely. Speaking of editing, when the editing is more precise, it makes it look much nicer: something I would've liked to fix up with my final montages. Overall, though, experimenting with this was a learning experience.
