Dear Families,
Do you have a band instrument at home that is no longer being used? Our school is collecting gently used instruments to become part of the district instrument loan inventory. This allows RSU 5 to lend instruments to families in need for free.
We are looking for flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones, baritones, and percussion kits. If you would like to contribute, please drop off instruments at the school office during regular hours. Your generosity will help our program grow and give students the gift of music.
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Erin York
Dear parents and guardians,
We are excited to share information about the social-emotional learning curriculum that we will continue to use this school year at FMS as part of our advisory curriculum. The 7 Mindsets (BASE) is a comprehensive program designed to build a positive productive school culture and connections that support our students' well-being. BASE is an evidence-based program that is designed to improve student behavior, engagement, and academic success. We will share a parent login that will allow you to see the lessons your child is working on so you can have conversations at home to reinforce their learning. Some topics your child will be exploring: building self-esteem, managing emotions, peer pressure, goal setting, managing stress, and building social skills. We are excited to continue with this program and to share information on important teen topics with all of you.

CONTEST GUIDELINES:
• Create an image representing Freeport Middle School.
• The student whose art is chosen for the cover will receive a free copy of the yearbook.
•You may include the school name and year in your design, but you do not have to.
• All artwork needs to be submitted to Ms. Moisan in Art or Mrs. Hooper in the Library by the end of the day on Friday, Nov. 21.
HELPFUL HINTS:
• Rich Colors: The more color depth and contrast in your artwork, the better your cover will reproduce.
• Full-size Images: For best results with Digital artwork, always use a full-size image that is at least 300 dpi.
• Thick Lines: Be sure that outlines are thick. Thin outlines created with a pencil will not show up. DO NOT use a pencil for your final design.
• Avoid Crayons: If using crayons, be sure the color is crisp and bold if using crayons. Light shading with crayons may not reproduce.
• Metallic: Glitter and metallic foils do not reproduce well when printed. Fluorescent/highlighter inks will not reproduce well and should be avoided.

They can have different plans on different days without letting us know, just make sure your child knows.
