11/21 Parent Teacher Conferences 2:30-6:00pm
11/18-22 FMS Food Drive (See Flyer below)
11/18-26 FMS Spirit Week
We will kick off a food drive here at FMS (see attached flyer). A friendly grade level competition will begin to see which grade can collect the most donations. Boxes will be set up in front of the building each morning so students can put their donations in appropriate grade level boxes upon arrival. Donations boxes will then be moved to tables in the cafeteria so during lunches students can see how much each grade level has collected. A pep rally will occur during BCS on Tuesday Nov. 26th. The grade level that collects the most food donations will be recognized and celebrated at this time.

If your student is going to be absent or late, please contact the school at 865.6051 (you can leave a message in the general mailbox) or email fmsattendance@rsu5.org
If your student is late and you are dropping them off, they can walk themselves in. They will sign in in the office and then head to class. You do not need to walk them into school.
If you are dismissing your student you must call ahead, preferably in the morning or send an email to fmsattendance@rsu5.org. We will dismiss your student out of class. They will sign out in the main office and then wait for you to pull in front of the building for pick up. You do not need to come in and sign your student out.
For absences of 3 or more consecutive days (e.g., family vacations) please complete and extended absence form and submit it one week in advance.
Your students will check their emails during bcs (end of the day). If you have any information/change of plans, you can email your student and/or call the main office.
Students check your emails during BCS!
The office or your parents may send you alerts for changes in plans.
The school day ends at 2:20. Make sure to have a "backup" plan (especially if clubs/practices/games are cancelled). All kids need to know if they are walking home, getting picked up, or riding a bus (FMS does not need to know the plan). They can have different plans on different days without letting us know, just make sure your child knows.

"All the Small Things"
THE PROMPT: Some say it is the small things in life we should be grateful for, as they bring us the most joy and have the most importance. Aesop, the ancient Greek fabulist, believed “gratitude is the sign of noble souls.” What small things are you grateful for in your life? Warm soup on a chilly day? Laughing with friends after a soccer game? A happy greeting from your dog each day?Can you write about all the small things, people, or experiences you are grateful for in your life?

The little things in life
Are the ones that make life great
The small things
That no one really confiscates
At least that's what they think
At least that's what they say
But the little things in life
Are the ones that make life great
In the spring,
Jumping in puddles
Cool, chill nights
And 1000 piece puzzles
In the summer,
A pool cannonball
A drink of water
And showers in a waterfall
In the fall,
Pumpkin carvings anywhere
Apple cider
And getting out snow-wear
In the winter,
The window frosts
My fingers freeze
Hours of the day are lost
HONORABLE MENTION #1
Important Small Things
by Toby Trahan
Grade 7
Sometimes we do not appreciate the small things in life,
ones that matter most.
like a conversation,
with people you like and appreciate,
the words escaping your mouth,
others entering your ears,
as people exchange thoughts.
Another is,
Warmth of a hot food,
or drink,
on a cold day,
your mouth another temperature
then your body.
Also,
landing a joke right,
and everyone’s laughing hard,
and you just know,
that you couldn’t have told it another way,
or time,
these things,
and many more,
are creating our favorite parts of the world,
sometimes we don’t appreciate these,
important “small” things.
HONORABLE MENTION #2
All the Small Things
By, Nora Murray
Grade 7
Sometimes the best things in life are the smallest. Sometimes the best things in life aren't even things. For some people it's a warm hug to snuggle into, or maybe it's having a good laugh with your family at dinner. For me it's walking along the beach at sunset with family, the ocean lapping on the shore in a rhythmic pattern and the grainy sand stuck to my limbs, and the way the ocean glistens in the sunset like it's sprinkled with glitter. For most people it's just a walk but for me it is proof small things are more important.
