The Freeport Middle School Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences start next week. They have a different setup than our fall conferences. There is no sign-up required for the spring conferences. All teachers will be in the gym at different tables. Parents will walk around to the tables to meet with their child’s teachers. Students can come with you to the conferences (not required). 

The 8th grade and UA conferences will be on Tuesday, March 18th, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. 8th grade families will have an opportunity to speak with teachers about High School course selection and a representative from Region 10 will be present.

The 6th and 7th-grade conferences will be on Thursday, March 20th, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Greater Portland Health (GPH), in partnership with RSU5 school district, will be offering dental care on site at Freeport Middle School on Tuesday, April 8th. The services that will be offered, with parent permission, would include a dental screening, a dental cleaning, and fluoride treatment. This will occur during the school day and should take less than 30 minutes out of their class time.

If follow-up treatment is needed (dental exam by a dentist, diagnostic x-rays, fillings, crowns, extractions), that would be provided by a GPH dentist at the clinic located in Portland High School on a different date and time, with a parent present. 

If you would like your child to be a part of this school based dental program there are enrollment and authorization forms that need to be filled out. Please email our nurse, Maureen Erskine erskinem@rsu5.org to let her know your child’s name and grade level. We will send hard copies of the enrollment and authorization forms home with your child. 

The cost for these services will be billed to your child’s dental insurance or MaineCare, so you should not receive a bill. If you receive a bill, please contact GPH directly, and they will correct the problem. If your child does not have dental insurance or MaineCare, please contact the school nurse directly. They will still be able to receive these dental services at no cost to you.
