Hello FMS Families,
We are thrilled to continue the tradition of Fab Friday at Freeport Middle School on February 7th. Fab Friday is a special school day where all students have the opportunity to participate in an activity of their choice, selected from a variety of options designed by our staff.
It’s important to note that Fab Friday is not a day off or free time—it’s an essential part of our students' education. We encourage every student to be present, as this day offers a unique chance to explore new activities, ranging from creative workshops to physical challenges, and much more. These experiences are invaluable, as they help broaden students’ horizons, develop new skills, discover new interests, and build confidence.
Beyond the activities themselves, Fab Friday offers students a valuable opportunity to grow socially. It allows them to connect with classmates they might not typically interact with, paving the way for new friendships, strengthening existing bonds, and contributing to a positive school climate.
Fab Friday also gives students the chance to see their teachers in a new light, and vice versa. By participating in activities together, both students and teachers can build stronger, more positive relationships. This is also an excellent opportunity for students to connect with other adults in the building, forming relationships that can enhance their overall school experience.
Ultimately, Fab Friday is about more than just fun—it’s about growth, connection, and learning in fresh, engaging ways. Sign-up forms have already been sent out and require your signature. Please remind your student to return the signed form if they haven’t already, as activities are filling up. We look forward to another exciting FAB Friday!
Students check your emails during BCS!
The office or your parents may send you alerts for changes in plans.
The school day ends at 2:20. Make sure to have a "backup" plan (especially if clubs/practices/games are cancelled). All kids need to know if they are walking home, getting picked up, or riding a bus (FMS does not need to know the plan). They can have different plans on different days without letting us know, just make sure your child knows.
If your student is going to be absent or late, please contact the school at 865.6051 (you can leave a message in the general mailbox) or email fmsattendance@rsu5.org
If your student is late and you are dropping them off, they can walk themselves in. They will sign in in the office and then head to class. You do not need to walk them into school.
If you are dismissing your student you must call ahead, preferably in the morning or send an email to fmsattendance@rsu5.org. We will dismiss your student out of class. They will sign out in the main office and then wait for you to pull in front of the building for pick up. You do not need to come in and sign your student out.
For absences of 3 or more consecutive days (e.g., family vacations) please complete and extended absence form and submit it one week in advance.
Your students will check their emails during bcs (end of the day). If you have any information/change of plans, you can email your student and/or call the main office.
The Senior Class of 2025 is looking for auction items to add to the Senior Class Online Auction fundraiser, which is our largest and most important fundraiser for the Senior class. Proceeds from the online auction help to fund Senior Week and Project Graduation for our FHS graduates. We're collecting donated items for the next few weeks and then the auction will be online from January 26th to February 9th. If you have an item you could donate please email our parent volunteers, Connie (Connie_Clifford@hotmail.com) or Danielle (danizgeorge@gmail.com).
We are looking for items such as gift certificates, excursions, ski/lake/camp house weekend donations, experiences, yard clean-up services, carpentry, car detailing, artist work and more. Anything you’re willing to donate can be deducted from your taxes and will help make this fundraiser a success!
If you do not have an item to donate but would be able to help us collect donations, please let us know by emailing Connie or Danielle.
Thank you again for considering being a part of this great fundraiser!
