RED
Remote Learning 2020-21
When it is determined Freeport Middle School needs to do remote learning (RED), this is the plan we will follow. Required daily attendance will be taken in classes. Parents need to be checking to make sure their children are attending classes daily. In order to best support your child, it is recommend that parents regularly check google classroom and PowerSchool. Students should be attending 2-3 classes and day and be doing 1-2 hours of work outside of the two daily classes.
Highlights of the changes to remote learning:
Students will have 10-12 required zoom classes a week
Students will rotate classes (except math) every three weeks
The 3 week units in UA, Science, STEM, SS will give the students a chance to still have all their classes, but not have to have 7 classes at a time to manage
Math will always be on the students’ schedules
Common scheduled support time with teachers
After 3 weeks of remote learning, students switch ELA and SS and Art and Science. After 6 weeks of remote learning, students switch back to ELA or SS, but Art is replaced with Wellness. This rotation continues in remote learning. The 6th grade UA will be Art, 7th-grade Wellness, and 8th-grade foreign language to start remote learning.
