Notifications - Sicknesses and COVID-19

Freeport Middle School will do our best to keep parents and students informed of health of our students. We will share what we are legally allowed to share.

Last year every single day of the year, including the first day of school we had students how sick. What most students have stayed home with in the past (fever, cough, fever, fatigue, headache, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting) are all symptoms of COVID-19. This school year when the secretaries and nurses call home when I child is missing from school they will ask about the child's symptoms and the nurses will recommend next steps. Previously we have asked students stay home until they have been fever (symptom ) free for 24 hours. This year there are increased procedures and time students will be required to follow before returning to school. Please contact the nurse for return to school procedures if your child is sick.

If there is a COVID-19 case at FMS all students who were in direct contact with the infected student would be notified (direct contact is determined by the CDC, not RSU5). All students who were not in direct contact would still be notified that FMS had a case.

The information on this page and all other pages will change when the state, CDC and RSU5 make updates to procedures and rules.
