Yellow / Hybrid Learning 2020-21

In a hybrid (YELLOW) model only 50% of the students will attend daily. Parents were given a choice of days in early July and all parents that made a request at that time had their request honored. Below is the link of the days your child will attend if we are in a hybring model. The advantage of the hybrid model is increased social distancing that can occur at school when only 50% of the students are present.

How it works:

  1. Students will be assigned to either a Monday/Wednesday group or a Tuesday/Thursday group. (About 50% of students will be in the building on any given school day)

  2. Fridays will alternate between M/W group and T/Th group.

  3. When students are in school they are required to wear a face coverings when inside. Here is the link to the face coverings expectations at FMS.

  4. On a four day week, the four days will be split evenly between the two groups (i.e. if Monday was not a school day, the M/W group would automatically come on that Friday)

  5. On days students are not physically present in the school building, they will be provided independent work that supports the learning they did in person with their teacher.

The hybrid schedule for the year. This is a calendar for the entire year. Whenever it is determined we need to be in hybrid model, we will have half the students in school based on this calendar. Like with remote learning, hybrid learning has no snow days. If it is snowing and we can't have school, work will be posted in google classroom by 9am for the students who are supposed to be in school. The students scheduled to be home already, will have their work for the day.

FMS is working to pilot some classes to teacher a synchronous lesson for the at-home students. If FMS feels it enhances the overall education of our students, we will look to expand synchronous learning to more classes.

Groups for A-Day and B-Day students coming to school have been emailed to parents and students out. It is also listed in PowerSchool (A= Mon/Wed, B=Tues/Thurs, R=Fully Remote)

Please watch our new procedures video to get a better idea of what FMS will look and feel like (link to be added shortly).

Small Cohorts - Students will travel the entire day to start the year in one small cohort of students. Each advisory will basically have the same schedule, except band/chorus, Spanish/French, and a few other classes. This is a state recommendation and we feel it will help give us the best chance to stay with in-person learning.
