LSMS Junior Golden Line Dance Team!
On January 10th, Junior Golden Line dance team had their second competition of the season in Farmington, Mo. They competed two dances, one pom and one lyrical. They won first place in both categories and also won the overall highest scoring team for middle school!
Now we have a quick interview with an 8th grader here at Lasalle, named Ella Schoenike, that has been on JGL for three years now!
Ella's favorite thing about Junior Golden Line is getting to spend time with her friends, doing what she loves. Her favorite skills to do while dancing are turns. At the Farmington competition, Ella enjoyed bonding with her teammates at lunch after performing. She loves the positive and happy environment that she gets to dance in!
Next, we interviewed Miss Dawson Castenada who is in 6th grade and had her first season as a part of JGL!
Dawson enjoys her teammates and loves dance practices. Her favorite skill to do while dancing is a firebird jump. She loves to spend time with her friends pursuing her passion.
Congratulations to these girls for their hard work and artistry!
The Honor band concert is a district wide event with more than 100+ students participating in total, with 9 of those being wildcats! About 90% of the kids who attend the event are 8th graders, but out of the 9 wildcats, 2 of those kids were 7th graders, Eloise Beardsly, and Noah Schoellhorn.
Dr Sakowski: "It was the best honor band I've seen in 15 years!" Dr Sakowski states. He is very proud of the students from Lasalle who participated in the event.
Eloise Beardsly (7th grader). Eloise was one of two kids who made honor band as a 7th grader, its a really hard achievement to accomplish. She practiced for about 9 months. "At first I thought I would never get it, but after a lot of practice and dedication I did it!" Eloise says. At the concert, Eloise says that it was anxious but very exciting.
Noah Shoellhorn (7th grader). Noah practiced for about 4 months. He says that the audition was very nerve racking, but then afterward when he made it, he was ecstatic. Noah had to do extra hard work because he had a solo in front of everybody. He says, "It felt amazing to play with all the other students from different schools and play in unison.
Great job wildcats! Keep playing and keep working!

The 7th grader students of the month are Taylor Funkenbusch, Rishona Aneez Philip, Lucas Clarrey, David Tibbetts, Sami Prewett-Behan, and Elle Holland. Finally, the 8th grade students of the month are Addisyn Wersching, Blake Holland, Mark Leshchenko, Brooklynn Keeling, Cora Folsom, and Desi Martin.
It is most of their first time being student of the month, and Addisyn describes the experience as "Quiet and fun to get out of class." This thought process is the same for many students, and their favorite part of it is "skipping class to eat donuts".
