Coach Mittler's high school did not have a lacrosse club. However, in college, he tried to make a team, and he and his teammates practiced on tennis courts because the lights were free. All through college, he also taught himself. In the end, his team didn't end up working out, and it was dropped.
At Mittler's old job, he coached college football until a student, Emily Henderson, brought to his attention that her lacrosse team needed a coach. He started coaching at Eureka High School when he found an open job.
Eureka High School Stats:
For the last four years, the Eureka High School girls' varsity team has gone to state. In 2022, 2023, and 2025, they placed second. In 2024, the team played MICDS and won state championships with a score of 18-10!
Shoutouts:
Coach Mittler wants to shout out all his senior players, and gives a special shoutout to Emily Henderson for encouraging him to get more into lacrosse.
Coach Mittler's Words of Encouragement:
Mittler really encourages girls and boys to join lacrosse and just try it out for a bit. He says, "You can't just be good; there are so many people who have lots of potential." He really recommends all Eureka teams, because you don't need any experience to join!
If you are interested in learning lacrosse, check the announcements in January and February to stay after school. No experience or equipment is needed -
Just show up and have fun!
