Feeding Their Brains and Their Stomachs

School meals are a vital part of a student's school experience. Access to nutritious meals before and during the school day promotes sound physical and mental development, as well as better academic performance.

The Food and Nutrition Program operates under the Louisiana Department of Education, and the United States Department of Agriculture. They serve nutritious, appetizing, and affordable meals to students. The administration believes that good nutrition is the key to learning and every child has the right to a nutritious breakfast and lunch at the lowest possible price. They are made up of a team of food and nutrition professionals that are dedicated to students’ health, well being, and their ability to learn. We support learning by promoting healthy habits for lifelong nutrition and fitness practices. School meals in this district follow the recommended Dietary Guidelines for Americans and offer healthy choices to students. Skim and low-fat milk, as well as low-fat chocolate, and no-fat strawberry milk, is offered to all students every day at breakfast and lunch.
