Mattie Stine | 5th/6th Social Studies

Ms. Stine is originally from Hackberry, Louisiana but has called Pineville her home for the last nine years. She is a 2018 graduate of Louisiana Christian University where she received a Bachelors Degree in Social Studies Education. This is Ms. Stine’s 5th year teaching, and her 4th year at FHJH. Prior to FHJH, she spent a year teaching at Bolton High School.

Ms. Stine enjoys spending her time away from school at the softball field every chance she gets. When she is not teaching her students as FHJH, she also serves as the assistant coach for the LCU Lady Wildcats softball team.


Ms. Stine got into teaching because she loves share love with her students but also for the opportunity to serve her students as well. She says that the hugs and the smiles from the children everyday are what make her love her job at FHJH.

Sandy Rachal | 5th Math/Science

Mrs. Rachal graduated from ULM in 1993 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education 1-8 and earned Middle School Math certification in 1999. She and her husband, Larry, have been married for 30 years and they have two children, Kelli and Sean. Maci, the dog, is the queen of their home.

Mrs. Rachal has been a part of our FHJH family for 3 years. She enjoys cooking and reading when she is not teaching.

Mike Jonker | 6th Math/Science

Mr. Jonker was born and raised in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. He has been married to Heidi, who is also a teacher at FHJH, for 20 years. They have two sons, Noah and Jack. Noah is a freshman and plays basketball at LSU-Shreveport, and Jack is a junior and leads the media team at Alexandria Senior High.

Mr. Jonker graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 2002 with a Bachelor's Degree in Church Ministries. He later furthered his education at Northwestern State University in order to obtain his teaching certification. This will be his 10th year at FHJH, where he has taught 5th/6th Grade Math and P. E. He is also the head boys basketball coach.

Mr. Jonker loves traveling nationally and international with his family. They have been to Uganda, Rwanda, and Romania on missions trips to serve in churches, schools, and orphanages. Basketball is life.

He teaches because every child deserves to have someone champion for them.

Christie Dunn | 6th/7th Grade ELA

Christie grew up right here in Forest Hill. She graduated from Rapides High and while a senior there, began working at the Bank of Lecompte where she worked for four years while pursuing her bachelor's degree in education. Christie has been married to her best friend since 1999 and together they have two children.

Christie Dunn joins the Forest Hill Junior High staff at the start of her 23rd year of teaching students in Rapides Parish. She has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree in educational technology from Northwestern State University. She earned additional certifications in English (grades 6-12) and teaching academically gifted students.

She admits to playing way too much Candy Crush and loves the daily Wordle puzzle. Her other hobbies include reading and pinning recipes to Pinterest that she’ll probably never cook. She is a huge hockey fan and even got to attend the Winter Classic on New Year’s Day in 2020! Christie loves to travel and affectionately refers to Walt Disney World as her “happy place”.

Christie became a teacher because of her love of reading. She has spent most of her life with her nose in a book and hopes to instill a love of reading in her students.

Craig Chamberlain | 7th/8th Math

Mr. Chamberlain graduated from LSUA in 2012 and has taught at FHJH since 2017. He was born and raised in Forest Hill and attended FHE as a child. He has three sons: Craig, Jr., Brody, and Bentley. Mr. Chamberlain is currently seeking his Master’s in Educational Leadership from LC.

Mr. Chamberlain is also the Baseball Coach and Assistant Basketball Coach.

Cindy Normand | 7th/8th ELA

Mrs. Normand was born and raised in Lecompte and graduated from Rapides High School in 2006. She now lives in Avoyelles Parish and is married and has a 27 year-old step-son, Chris, a 24 year-old step-daughter, Allison, and a nine-year-old son, Zac.

Mrs. Normand graduated from Louisiana State University at Alexandria in 2010 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. She later furthered her education at LSUA in order to obtain her teaching certification in Middle School ELA. This will be her 3rd year at FHJH. She is also the assistant cheerleading coach.

She enjoys art, reading, being outdoors, hanging out with friends, and caring for animals.

Mrs. Normand decided to make a career change to teaching because in her heart, she knew that she wanted to make a difference in the lives of our youth. She says that she wants to be able to help children find their potential and purpose, and push them to be their BEST every day.

Britney Fulks | 7th/8th Science

Ms. Fulks is from Simpson, Louisiana. She has one older brother, Dustin and one younger sister, Miranda.

Ms. Fulks graduated from McNeese in 2013 and then completed her education through Louisiana State University at Alexandria. She taught 4th/5th Grade ELA & Social Studies for three years at different school before coming to FHJH, where she has been teaching Junior High Science for four years.

Ms. Fulks loves to travel and spend time with her friends and family!

Ms. Fulks wants to show love to all her students, especially the ones who don't get it at home. She wants to make sure they know that someone loves and cares for them personally. She wants them to have someone positive in their life to show that even though times are hard, you can overcome it.

Madeline Hackney | 7th/8th Grade Social Studies

Claudette Prejean | 6th & 8th SPED

Mrs. Prejean graduated from McNeese State in 2000 with degrees in Elementary and Special Education and earned her Master's in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University in 2007. Over the past 15 years she has taught throughout Texas and Arizona but has called FHJH home since 2016. She is a native of Forest Hill and graduated Forest Hill Academy. She along with her husband and six-year old daughter just moved into their forever home. They enjoy traveling, cooking, and are excited to enjoy Sportsman's Paradise.

Mrs. Prejean is also a self-proclaimed "total nerd" that loves post-its and reading.

Laurie Smith | Junior High ESL

Laurie Smith graduated from Louisiana College in 1984. After teaching three years at Pollock Elementary and getting her Master's degree from LSU, she moved to Nashville where she taught grades 2 through 6, technology, and ESP. She will teach ESL students in 5th through 8th grade.

Mary Nassif | Gifted/Talented

Mrs. Mary Nassif is from Alexandria. She earned her BS at LSU in Baton Rouge in Elementary Education. She later earned her Master’s Degree at Northwestern University in Natchitoches in Educational Leadership. A few years later, she received her Gifted/Talented Certification. She has taught 22 years in public schools and 14 years in parochial schools. She loves teaching and has taught grades 2-6.

Mrs. Nassif enjoys traveling and cooking with her husband. She also enjoys spending time with family, playing with her three dogs, and gardening.
