As the season begin adjustments are made by tournaments. They change weekend and tournaments we did not consider previously become part of our tournament for competitive reason. Team Handbook
This is our guidebook to staying in the rule of the activity. All student must submit a handbook before they attend any competition. You can receive a physical copy, which you will need, from the debate room.
Practice Schedule
Each event will have one weekly practice where you a varsity member or a novice (1st year competitor). All competitor who wish to be approved for the next years debate block should attend the majority of practices. All competitors are required to attend practice in a week they are competing at a tournament.
Tournament Sign Up
This is actually far more than simply signing up for a tournament, but how to get connected to our tournament system and national organization - the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA).
a. Signing up for NSDA
This is your first step into getting connect to competition. You must have an NSDA account 1st. It a pretty simply process, but please use your personal email. The district email is notorious for blocking your access to NSDA. Once you have fully signed up (this require logging back in after you get the confirmation email) the Westwood coach will receive an automated email indicate you need approval. You DO NOT need to reach out. There is an additional video at the bottom that will give you even more information about NSDA and your new account. Explore!
b. Signing up for Tabroom
The most important element to remember is that the coach registers for tournament and you sign up. Do not register for a tournament. Once you have completed your tabroom registers [after you completed your NSDA registeration] the coach will link you and then you will be able to sign up. But first you need an account. The video below will help you with that process. There is an additional video at the bottom that explores all of the elements of tabroom.com.
