Process for Identifying Students Who Are “At Risk”

for Failure to Progress

Written feedback is a critical part of student evaluation. Although less objective than formative exams, consistent observational information regarding SRNA clinical performance can be impactful when provided objectively, factually, and with specific examples. At the earliest possible opportunity, whenever a student is identified as “At Risk”, the clinical coordinator should contact the program faculty to discuss the SRNA’s clinical performance. Written documentation of deficiencies is imperative. The RFU faculty will review the documentation regarding the student, along with details regarding the situation(s) leading to this assessment. The student’s Faculty Mentor will also be involved early in the process. The RFU faculty will meet with the “At Risk” student and will develop a remediation plan that might include a learning contract.
