Catholic Education in the Diocese of Rockhampton has adopted the model of religious education that is the basis and foundation of the religious education curriculum for the Archdiocese of Brisbane. Catholic Education in the Diocese of Rockhampton has adopted the content of the Archdiocese of Brisbane Religious Education curriculum. It has been adapted for the local context through the emphasis on cognitive verbs to promote academic rigour, support differentiation and enable engagement with curriculum content, through the development of cognitive skills. Catholic Social Teaching has also been embedded in the curriculum documents from P-6 as well as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and spirituality. The pedagogy at the heart of the religious education curriculum in the Diocese of Rockhampton is dialogue, with the intention of students making meaning through authentic inquiry.
We are very grateful to the Archdiocese of Brisbane for the wonderful work that they have done.
“Approaching, speaking, listening, looking at, coming to know and understand one another, and to find common ground... All these things are summed up in the one word “dialogue”.
If we want to encounter and help one another, we have to dialogue.
Unlike disagreement and conflict, persistent and courageous dialogue does not make headlines, but quietly helps the world to live much better than we imagine."
