Course Summary

Photography is incredibly fun, but it is certainly not an ‘easy’ subject! You must take photos for homework every week for this subject. You must plan and research ideas for photo shoots you will take and you will have to organise people to pose for you, travel to different locations and organise props and anything else you need to take your photos. You are responsible for organising this. Written work and drawing skills are assessed elements of this course.

In this subject, you will learn how to improve your photo taking skills and learn how to edit your photos using Photoshop. You will also produce research about different photographers and create your own ideas for what to photograph for your projects. All work is presented via online digital portfolios so you need to have strong IT skills and creative presentation skills which includes written work.

Lessons are a mixture of practical work (taking photos, printing them) and portfolio work (presentation of work, research, developing ideas, written work). You will be required to complete compulsory summer homework before the start of Year 10 regardless of summer holiday arrangements. Completion of this summer homework in time for September will show how serious you are about studying photography so use it as an opportunity to make a good impression.
