Volunteer Projects

Robot Garden is a 100% volunteer program. There is always plenty to do for the day-to-day operations. And, there are always a number of one-off special projects that don't require a long term time commitment. Please, take a look at these projects and let us know if you can help.

RG Administration

• This is a list of the ongoing activities conducted by RG volunteers. These are the most frequent activities.

• Classes

  • Safety & Basic Use classes for equipment (aka SBU's)

  • Content creation on Google Classroom

  • 3D CAD/CAM software usage

  • Fixit Clinics (monthly event w/ local high school students)

** Robot Garden uses the term/title of "Marshal" for a volunteer who helps to maintain equipment, runs SBU's and offers users assistance on a best effort basis. Marshals get a 50% volunteer discount on their membership dues.

    • Mount on hangar walls

• Shop Management / Maintenance

  • Shadow boards

    • Use laser cutter to create shadow boards for all drawers in all tool chests

  • Build an "Easy Access Cordless Tool Center"

    • modify existing toolbox for cordless tools

    • attach plywood riser on back to support holders for power tools

    • order & attach Ryobi Link tool holders

  • Build a Cleaning Station

    • modify a cart to be an all-in-one shop cleaning center

    • should hold brooms, small Shop-Vac,  bench brush, dustbin

    • should hold cleaning supplies such as paper towels, wet wipes, etc

    • should hold hygiene supplies such as kleenex, hand sanitizer, etc

  • Sharpen Tools

    • drill bits, chisels, etc

• Special Events / Public Outreach Events

  • Fixit Clinics (monthly @ Las Positas College)

  • TriValley Innovation Fair (2nd Sat in April @ Alameda County Fairgrounds)

  • Livermore 4th of July Celebration (July 4th @ LVK)

  • LVK Airport Open House (1st Sat in Oct @ LVK)

• Aviation

  • Work on building Bede5 airplane

  • Volunteer w/ Aviation Explorer Post #997

• Marketing / Tech

  • Set up Google Ads (using $10K/month Google Ads grant)

  • Set up a Windows Domain Server for user & device authentication

  • Organize special events / seasonal events

• Video recording & editing

  • Safety & Basic Use classes

  • Google Classroom classes
