What is the Aerial Drone Competition?
Operating under the Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation, the Aerial Drone Competition is a dynamic, fast-paced STEM program that introduces students to hands-on aviation, autonomous programming, and drone piloting. Teams program and pilot unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to navigate intricate obstacle courses, execute precision landings, perform autonomous flight tasks, and collaborate with allied teams in competitive match play.
What Our Team Consists Of:
Our Aerial Drone Team is made up of forward-thinking cadets who excel in technology, flight strategy, and engineering. Team members fill critical roles as drone pilots, autonomous programmers, flight spotters, and tactical strategists. Working together to optimize drone flight mechanics, troubleshoot software code, and analyze match dynamics, cadets develop high-level problem-solving, spatial awareness, and technical communication skills.
Where We Compete:
Competing within the REC Foundation circuit, our team regularly tests its aerial tactics against top-tier regional and national programs. Our drone team has established a track record of elite performance, earning invitations to compete at the High School Western Regional Championships in San Diego, as well as qualifying for the prestigious JROTC Aerial Drone National Championships in Mississippi and Atlanta! Whether navigating local field courses or competing on national stages, our cadets continue to push the boundaries of aviation excellence.
