What is the Academic Team?

The Academic Team is where intellect, rapid recall, and strategy come together in high-energy head-to-head competitions. Designed to test cadets across a wide array of subjects—including naval science, military history, current events, mathematics, science, national security, and general trivia—academic competitions challenge students to think critically under pressure and answer complex questions with speed and precision. 

What Our Team Consists Of:

Our Academic Team is made up of sharp, quick-thinking cadets who share a passion for learning, scholarship, and mental competition. Team members spend hours studying academic modules, current world affairs, and specialized subject matters, training rigorously with buzzer systems to master response timing. Cadets build unmatched mental agility, public confidence, and strong study habits that serve them exceptionally well in advanced high school courses and college.

*Field Meet Team Integration: Academic cadets serve as a vital pillar of our overall Field Meet Team, earning crucial points alongside drill and athletic disciplines to secure overall meet championships. 

*NJROTC Brain Brawls: Fast-paced, jeopardy-style regional tournaments where units face off live in dynamic buzzer rounds to claim regional academic supremacy. 

*JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB): A premier national competition sponsored by the College Options Foundation. Our team competes in multi-stage online rounds against thousands of JROTC academic teams from all military branches nationwide, striving for high national rankings and a spot at the National JLAB Championship in Washington, D.C.!
