Director and Principal, Hopestone Academy

Lisa Bernardo is an experienced educational leader who currently serves as the Director of Region V Council for Special Education and Hopestone Academy in Cresskill, New Jersey. In this role, she is responsible for providing more than ten school districts with related services, professional development, and transportation to meet the needs of students with IEPs. She also founded Hopestone Academy in 2024, a public school placement program serving students in grades K–8 with emotional regulation impairments. Prior to her current position, she served as the Director of Special Services in the Park Ridge Public School District, Park Ridge, NJ, and held supervisory roles in special education in both the Hackensack and Oradell Public School districts. Ms. Bernardo began her career as a teacher of students with disabilities and holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Seton Hall University, as well as multiple New Jersey certifications, including School Administrator, Principal, and Supervisor. Ms. Bernardo enjoys spending time at home and traveling with her husband, Dave, and her young adult children, Ashley and Alex.

Jill Casey, MA, BCBA has dedicated nearly 30 years to the field of education and behavior analysis, working across both private and public sectors to support students with diverse needs. She became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in 2011, further strengthening her commitment to evidence-based practices and student-centered support.
In 2024, she collaborated with Director Lisa Bernardo to develop and launch Hopestone Academy, a public school placement program serving students in grades K–8 with emotional regulation impairments. As the program’s coordinator, she is proud to help lead an initiative that provides a structured, therapeutic educational environment where students can grow both academically, emotionally and socially. She notes that being part of this program has been an incredibly rewarding experience.
Outside of her professional role, Jill is a proud mother of two boys and can often be found cheering them on from the sidelines of their games. She enjoys traveling with her husband and kids, and spending weekends connecting with friends over dinner.
School Counselor

Antonella Guttilla, MA, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of New Jersey and a licensed School Counselor in NJ. She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from Montclair State University and has over 15 years of experience in the mental health field. Throughout her career, she has worked in a variety of settings including public school, community mental health, and private practice. Since joining Hopestone Academy in 2024, Antonella has been passionate about helping children reach their full potential in social and emotional development. In her free time, she enjoys running, practicing yoga, reading, cooking Italian food, gardening, and spending time at the beach with her husband, three children, and their dog, Marley.
Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Ariana Bray, M.Ed., BCBA joined the Hopestone Academy team in September 2025, bringing over a decade of experience in special education and behavioral science. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Ariana specializes in creating supportive environments that foster emotional regulation and academic success. Her career began in the public school system, where she spent eight years as a Special Education Teacher specifically serving students with emotional regulation impairments. This foundational experience in the classroom provided Ariana with a practical, student-focused lens when developing behavior intervention plans and supporting students and their families. After transitioning into the behaviorist role, she has spent several years supporting students across elementary, middle, and high school levels. Today, Ariana is dedicated to applying evidence-based strategies at Hopestone to help every student reach their full potential. In her free time, Ariana enjoys hiking, being outdoors, reading, playing board games, and spending time with her partner, two cats, and four snakes.
Registered Nurse

Sabrina Miuccio, RN, BSN, is a Registered Nurse in the state of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology from Seton Hall University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Thomas Jefferson University. Prior to being a school nurse, she has experience working as a nurse in the Emergency Department where she worked with both the adult and pediatric population. She joined Hopestone Academy in March of 2025 and since then she has been dedicated to promoting the health and safety of all students by providing care and support. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, going to new places, playing with her two cats, being outdoors, and traveling with her husband.
