Slow/Intermittent Meet?
Meet is a resource intensive service; make sure the computer isn't doing unnecessary work during Meets. Close all programs and Chrome tabs you don't need during the Meet.
Plan your lessons and instruct your students so that they don't need too many programs or Chrome tabs open at once during the Meet.
With the hotspot, find a location/room where the service is best.
Need to work offline on a Chromebook?
(students already have the required extension so they can start at step 4.)
Need to simulate a Chromebook?
Don't want students to join Meets before or after the teacher?
You can create a nicknamed Meet either using one of the following methods:
Go to Meet.Google.com and type in a new or reused nickname in the Join or Start A Meeting box
Come up with a Meet Lookup link and share it with your students:
Example 1 - meet.google.com/lookup/nicknameofyourchoice
Example 2 - meet.google.com/lookup/anothernickname
When ending the meeting, make sure you are the last one to leave the Meet.
Students can access Meet when you are not there IF
the Meet link was created in Gmail
the Meet link was created in Calendar
Also, don't share Meet links, Meet nick names, Meet or Classroom codes publicly, i.e outside your Classroom or Parentsquare
