Transition - After High School

Transitioning to College:

• Executive function resources

DDS - developmental disabilities and college

BRS - Bureau of Rehabilitation Services - will fund some AT for college and also for employment purposes

Employers must follow IDEA and ADA law -- so use BRS to get AT in the workplace paid for

Kurzweil - for scanning in texts -- often used in colleges

IEP - keep things in that they need even if they don’t use it; make sure it is all well documented -- human voice or text to speech etc. Colleges don’t have to provide exactly what had been supplied in high school.

Plan to use tools that can be carried into the workplace, such as text readers, speech to text tools and more.
