SUPER-CURRICULUM

Geography plays a crucial role in understanding our world. It makes a vital contribution to our knowledge of the rapidly changing environmental and social challenges we face and how we should tackle them. It is also a subject that is multidisciplinary in its skills and bridges both the sciences and humanities.

The super-curricular activities allow you to dive into some really interesting and important issues and topics that we face, from the problem with palm oil to understanding complex issues around climate change. The recommended KS4 text, 'Prisoners of Geography,’ helps us understand global politics from the perspective of maps and Geography, helping us understand recent conflicts around the world. There are also more lighthearted and fun games and challenges that will help develop place knowledge, such as Geo Guesser.

To be a great geographer, you will need to develop the ability to think synoptically, being able to see the greater overview and how everything we study in Geography links together. Geography is not just about studying people and landscapes; it is also about the relationships that exist between people and their environment.
