SUPER-CURRICULUM
Economics requires students to develop an understanding of concepts and theories through critical consideration of current economic affairs and issues that may arise and affect our daily lives. This is done by being able to analyse, explain and evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of various markets and economies as well as to develop a critical approach to economic models and methods of enquiry. For example, have you ever wondered how significant events in history such as the 2008/2009 Financial Crisis and covid-19 pandemic have led to subsequent effects such as changes in unemployment and the cost of living crisis? Or questioned how the rise of artificial intelligence could potentially impact or even solve the UK’s current Productivity Puzzle? Or ever considered why some countries such as the “tiger economies” have been experiencing rapid economic growth? All of these issues and more are addressed and explored in Economics.
At Richard Hale School, our super-curricular offer allows all students to delve into the world of Economics by exploring historical events, debating topical issues as well as discovering latest exciting opportunities to participate in competitions and other events.
