The focus of the 2024 Professional Learning Conference is to share strategies, tools, and resources with collaborative teams and teachers that they can use within the First 30 Days of School. Each time block focuses on one or more areas of the Rock Hill Schools Instructional Framework, and the sessions within each block will be designed to build teachers’ toolkits within key instructional areas. We will offer participants over 60 sessions from which to choose based on their needs and interests, therefore the goal is for participants to leave with 1-2 practices that they can commit to implementing during the upcoming school year with the support of their site-based instructional leaders.
Locations: Rawlinson Road Middle, CCDC, Belleview Campus, Cherry Park Elementary (Please review schedule for details.)
The focus of the Block 1 and 2 sessions is on practices, strategies, and resources for PLCs; they are focused on Culture, Structure, and The Work. Sessions are anchored in PLC + Framework. Teams may choose to attend together or “divide and conquer” several sessions to address multiple areas of need.
The focus of the Block 3 and 4 sessions is on practices, strategies, and resources for classrooms; they are focused on Student-Centered Learning Environment, High Leverage Instructional Practices, and Feedback/Assessment Practices. Sessions are anchored in best practice and John Hattie’s Visible Learning research. Teachers should choose sessions based on areas of desired growth.

Participation in the 2024 Professional Learning Conference is required for all certified employees of the district as August 5th and 6th are contracted days within the 2024-25 school year. All district employees should report to their assigned location on their designated day. Personal days may not be taken on these days without prior approval from the district Superintendent, and no "exchange days" will be offered within the year as an alternative for an absence on this day.
Attendance for PD sessions will be noted by session facilitators. Attendees must register for sessions prior to the session start time in order to receive credit for attendance.
Non-certified, full-time employees may attend the conference although it is not a requirement. All non-certified employees have access to KickUp and may register for any sessions of interest.
Teaching Interns may attend the conference; however, because they are not employees of the district, they are not able to register via KickUp. Internship supervisors will have to share the session information with their interns.
Participants should register for conference sessions through KickUp. PLC sessions are linked to KickUp in the Conference Schedule at a Glance. All district employees have KickUp accounts. If you are not able to access your KickUp account, please email jholmes@rhmail.org.
A Conference Help Desk will be available in the gallery at each site to provide assistance during the conference from 7:15 am to 11:30 am on the day of the conference.
Individuals with needs for special accommodations including lactation rooms and accommodations for food allergies should email Dr. Holmes at jholmes@rhmail.org before August 2nd.
Please feel free to Tweet about the your learning experiences for the day.
