Opportunity programs are counseling and academic support programs designed to help students who come from historically underrepresented groups (examples: first-generation, students of color, and/or economically disadvantaged) succeed in college.

In New York, these programs are called:

• SEEK for CUNYs

• EOP for SUNYs

• HEOP for private colleges.

In you get into a school through this program, you will have access to extra financial aid, additional academic and personal counseling, and a community of mentors and alumni.

In order to qualify for these programs, you will need to fit the school's academic AND financial guidelines.

When you fill out your brag sheet and have your first meeting with Joe, he will go over whether you potentially qualify for these programs. These programs require additional steps in your application but are worth it!
