If your family relies on free and reduced lunches during the school year and might need a little help during the summer months, come on out to the SAFE Summer Backpack Program every Thursday from 9-11am at the Eli Whitney Recreational Center!

Over 100 million birds perish in "glass collisions" every year in North America. Your Bird Lifesaver may help save the life of many songbirds in your very own neighborhood!
Hang your lifesaver in the center of a window with the reflective side facing out. The light bouncing off your Bird Lifesaver will help birds "see" the window, and prevent them from accidentally flying into the glass.
Every month in the US over 100,000 pounds of CDs become outdated or unwanted (as of 2008). Every year, more than 5.5 million software packages go to landfills and incinerators.
Since CDs are a mix of polycarbonate plastic, petroleum-based lacquer, pants, aluminum, and other metals, they don't break down well, and are not easily recycled. They are not biodegradable, so they won't break down in landfills. When incinerated, they release toxic fumes into the air, and these chemicals contribute to environmental and heath problems.
