Cricket plays a vibrant role in our school’s sporting life, offering students the chance to build technique, game awareness, focus, and teamwork from Year 7 to Year 10. Whether picking up a bat or ball for the first time or aiming to compete at a higher level, students are supported to develop their skills, confidence, and passion for the game.
Both boys and girls in Years 7–10 take part in cricket throughout the year. During the winter months, students play indoor cricket, focusing on fast-paced games and refining core skills. In the summer, our teams transition to outdoor cricket, giving players the opportunity to experience the full format of the sport.
Our aim is to develop composed, skilful, and enthusiastic cricketers who enjoy playing and continually look to improve.
Many students also play for local clubs outside of school, and we encourage all cricketers to pursue additional opportunities to grow their game.
Our cricket teams enjoy a broad and competitive fixture calendar. Students have the opportunity to represent the school in a range of competitions, including:
Havering Cup (Boys and Girls Years 7-10)
Essex Cup – Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 (Boys and Girls Years 7-10)
Indoor Essex Cup (Boys and Girls - Years 7-10)
National Cup (entry dependent on team performance)
These competitions give our players valuable experience and the chance to challenge themselves against strong opposition locally, regionally and nationally.
Year 11 student Flick R is an outstanding cricket player whose talent and dedication have earned her a place on the Essex team. Her skill, commitment, and impressive performances have also led to several cricket scholarship offers from prestigious schools for her sixth form, reflecting her bright future in the sport. She recently was awarded a Jack Petchey also - well done Flick!
