Sports Marathon
2025
Redden Court School was buzzing with energy and determination on Friday 20th June as students and staff took part in the fourth annual 12-hour sports marathon, raising an incredible £10,000 which is split equally between Great Ormond Street Hospital and the school’s PE department.
From 7am until 7pm, the school’s field and playground were packed with hundreds of pupils rotating between a wide variety of competitive games, including Benchball, Volleyball, Danish Longball, Netball, Football, Rounders, Capture the Flag, and Tug of War. The event showcased teamwork, sportsmanship, and a strong sense of community.
Great Ormond Street Hospital, known for its world-class care for seriously ill children, will receive half of the funds raised. The remaining money will be reinvested into Redden Court’s PE department, funding new equipment to benefit students for years to come. Representatives from Great Ormond Street came along during the day to see what the day entailed and to take photographs to help their school programme go from strength to strength. A Great Ormond Street representative said, "The Redden Court School community is truly special and we want to say a big thank you for your ongoing support".
To wrap up the day, an auction and raffle were held, adding to the excitement and helping to raise additional funds for the cause. The event was a great opportunity for the school community to come together, have fun and support a worthy cause.
Sports Marathon
2024
Just like that, it was time for our third annual 12 Hour Sports Marathon!
It was another incredible success. From 7am-7pm, over 250 sign ups, and over £8000 raised, it would have been nothing without every single person that walked through our doors and played their part. Thank you to the students, staff, parents, carers, friends and vendors (Friends of Redden Court, Giggly Pig and Bibby's Ice Cream) for everything you did to make this another success. A special mention to Year 7 Lily B who raised over £2000 in sponsorship money!
This day has become a staple in our calendar and we will never get over the generosity of our community. It really does show the power of human connection when there is a cause greater than ourselves. In 3 years, we have raised over £21,000 with just under £15,000 of that going to Great Ormond Street.
We are so proud to be a part of something so special and hope it continues for years to come!
Sports Marathon 2023
On Tuesday 11th July, the Redden Court PE Faculty held their second annual 12 hour Sports Marathon raising funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital and PE department. We had over 188 students signed up with around 150 of those at school at 7am - it really was a brilliant day from start to finish. It was lovely to have Katie Chapman, former Lioness and Chelsea captain, to do a meet and greet with the students as well as Great Ormond Street Ambassador Chetan who spoke to our community just before the raffle and gave us an insight as to why the money is so important for them.
We also can't forget the delicious food from The Giggle Pig Co. and our wonderful Friends at Redden Court for selling sweets and refreshments.
We finished off the day with an auction to win a signed 2022/2023 West Ham shirt. After a slow start, a bidding war begun between two parents who kept everyone on their toes. The highest bid went for £300, with this money alone going to Cure Parkinson's - the charity that Miss Fraser ran for at the London Marathon.
As it stands, we have raised £4458.29 with sponsorship money still coming in.
It was an incredible day raising money for a charity that is close to a lot of our hearts!
Sports Marathon 2022
On Friday 24th June, the Redden Court PE Faculty held a 12 hour Sports Marathon raising funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Students signed up and had access to the whole day that went from 7am to 7pm with the idea that sports was going to be played non-stop for 12 hours. The students were sponsored by their friends, family and teachers with the top 10 highest put into a draw to win a £50 Sports Direct voucher. The highest amount raised by a single student was £555. The sports being played throughout the day included netball, football, basketball, dodgeball, capture the flag, benchball, futsal, volleyball, table tennis, as well as rounders and a tug of war that parents/carers and staff could also join in with. Over 170 students signed up for the day with approximately 120 of them in the Sports Hall doors at 6:50am. And even by 7pm there were still hundreds of students and now members of the community that joined us for an evening of fun. We had the local ice cream man and The Giggly Pig Company, Friends of Redden Court (FORC) selling sweets and soft drinks as well as a raffle which included prizes such as a signed Essex Cricket bat and shirt, a Nike voucher and a 14 day pass at David Lloyd.
It was an incredible day raising money for a charity that is close to a lot of our hearts. It has been a while since we could do something like this due to the pandemic so it was brilliant to be a part of such a special event. All in all we managed to raise £8530.65 for GOSH! We were blown away by everyone's generosity and we know the money is going to a very important place.
We hope to make this an annual event and make it bigger and better every year.
